Each month, Sparkle Strands Fairy Hair selects a local non-profit to donate a percentage of funds to. This is our way of directly supporting the community and those individuals, and animals, who need it the most. See who we have supported so far in 2024!
We started off the year by supporting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, on behalf of long-time sparkle client Sue. Sue spends time fostering and volunteering for this rescue, making a difference in the lives of these precious animals.
In February, a donation was made to Loudoun Hunger Relief. LHR directly serves families and individuals throughout the county by providing nutritious groceries and food through their food pantry and emergency prepraedness food program.
In March, a donation was made to LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services. LAWS provides services and support to adults, teens, and children. One of their programs is The Resourceful Woman, a thrift store around the corner from the Sparkle Studio! I encourage you to visit the next time you get sparkled.
A colleague who celebrated her very first Mother's Day was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after the birth of her daughter. I could think of nobody more deserving than her to receive a donation on behalf of SSFH for this month.
In May of this year, SSFH donated to the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company on behalf of our many of my clients who have family members who are firefighters. Thank you so much for serving our community!
Each summer, a Loudoun County Facebook group named "Loudoun County: Adopt a Teacher" comes out of hibernation and shares the wishlists of public and private school teachers throughout the county. If you are a teacher, or if you know a teacher, then you are probably aware that educators are given little (or no) funds to decorate and stock their classrooms for the year.
Throughout this summer, I adopted a few teachers to help them get ready for the new school year! The adoption list included a first-year school psychologist and a 2nd-grade teacher.
September is Suicide Prevention Month and this month's donation went to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; the National Capital Area Chapter. I know all too well the heartache of losing someone to suicide and believe in the importance of spreading awareness and helping those who are suffering.
*If you, or someone you know, are suffering please dial 988 or visit 988lifeline.org.
The devastation of Hurricane Helene and the impending arrival of Milton have shattered many of the communities and families my SSFH clients know and love. We will be making a donation to Samaritan's Purse for the month of October as this organization is providing relief to areas hit in the Southeast.
